We are excited to welcome you to the 5th edition of the African Business Conference at Lagos Business School. This year’s conference is scheduled to hold on Friday, 3rd March 2017 and will feature a mix of high-impact keynote addresses, interactive panel sessions and professional networking opportunities among other activities.
The theme for the conference is “Rethink Africa: Radical Business Models for Volatile Economies.” Built on asking non-conventional questions, we will be challenging the paradigms that have defined the business and economic landscape in Africa. The conference will also seek answers and solutions in disruptive thinking and untried methods.
Already, the spate of disruption globally makes it evident that businesses and economies that do not evolve faster than their environment will soon be confined to obscurity. Across industries and continents, rapid change is redefining markets and competitive advantage. Amidst all these change however, Africa must also address the volatility and underdevelopment in most of its economies and institutions.
Indeed, over the past few decades, the African continent has become associated with poverty and incapacity. It has even been represented as a collage of failed and failing states. But the discourse is changing. Stories of disruption leading to creation of wealth and opportunities are coming out of Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt, Morocco, South Africa etc.
These pockets of successes scattered in silos across continent raise important questions: What are the critical drivers of business success and economic prosperity in Africa? Are there inherent business opportunities in the challenges confronting Africa? And most importantly, how do we systematize disruptive thinking to create successful commercial ecosystems across the continent.
The conference really is about wealth creation for Africa and Africans. It is about weaving a story of prosperity that will be retold for many generations. We invite you to join the conversation on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using #lbsabc5 and #rethinkafrica.
We look forward to hosting you to an impactful conference on March 3rd.
